The American Vintage series has a slightly larger hoop diameter to allow for an easy fit on most vintage drumshells. This drumhead features a special coating that has the look, feel and warm sound of a calfskin head. This bass drumhead has a vertical felt strip adhered to the backside of the head for that Swing Era look and sound. No extra muffling required
